Losing all or most of your teeth can be life-changing in ways that go far beyond appearance. It affects how you eat, how you speak, and how you feel about yourself every day. If you have been living with loose, failing, or missing teeth, you may have assumed a complete smile restoration would take months — or that it simply was not possible for you. Teeth in a Day, also known as the All-on-4 treatment concept, changes everything.
At Stag Lane Dental in Edgware, we offer this life-changing procedure to eligible patients: a full arch of fixed, natural-looking teeth, anchored by just four precisely placed dental implants — all in a single day.
Teeth in a Day is a revolutionary implant treatment that replaces an entire arch of missing or failing teeth with a fixed prosthetic bridge, supported by just four dental implants. The technique was pioneered to overcome the challenges of traditional full-arch implant reconstruction, which historically required 6 to 8 implants per jaw, complex bone grafting, and a waiting period of six months or more before a permanent restoration could be fitted.
The All-on-4 concept uses a strategic angled placement of the rear implants to maximise contact with the available bone — often eliminating the need for bone grafting entirely. On the same day as your implant surgery, a provisional fixed bridge is attached, so you leave our practice with a full set of functional, aesthetic teeth.
1. Consultation and Planning
Every successful Teeth in a Day case begins with a thorough assessment. At Stag Lane Dental, we use advanced 3D cone beam CT (CBCT) scanning to assess your bone density, anatomy, and overall oral health in precise detail. This allows us to plan your implant positions digitally before a single incision is made.
During your consultation, our implant dentist will:
2. Treatment Day
On the day of your procedure, the process is carefully managed to ensure your comfort throughout:
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, and sedation options are available for nervous patients. You will not be without teeth at any point during treatment.
3. Healing and Final Restoration
Over the following months, a process called osseointegration takes place — your bone grows around and fuses with the titanium implants, creating a stable, permanent foundation. Once healing is complete (typically three to six months), your provisional bridge is replaced with your final, custom-crafted permanent restoration.
The surgical appointment typically takes four to six hours. You will be with us for most of the day, but you leave with a fixed provisional bridge in place. The final restoration is fitted at a separate appointment once healing is complete.
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, so you will not feel pain during surgery. Some soreness and swelling in the days following treatment is normal and manageable with prescribed pain relief. Sedation is available for patients who are nervous.
One of the key advantages of All-on-4 is that it is specifically designed to work with available bone, using angled implants to avoid the sinuses and maximise contact with denser bone at the front of the jaw. The majority of patients do not require bone grafting, though this will be confirmed during your assessment.
You will be able to eat soft foods from day one with your provisional bridge in place. A soft diet is recommended for the first six to eight weeks during osseointegration. Once your final bridge is fitted, you can enjoy a fully unrestricted diet.
Your same-day provisional bridge is a temporary restoration designed to function and look good while your implants heal and integrate with the bone. Your final bridge — typically made from high-strength zirconia or porcelain — is custom-made to the highest aesthetic and functional standards and is fitted once healing is confirmed.
The implants themselves are designed to be permanent and, with proper care and maintenance, can last a lifetime. The prosthetic bridge may require replacement after 15 to 20 years depending on wear. Regular professional maintenance ensures the longevity of your investment.
Active gum disease must be treated before implant surgery can take place. Our team will assess your periodontal health during your consultation and may recommend preparatory treatment to ensure the best possible outcomes.
The All-on-4 procedure can be performed on either the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both in the same surgical session. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs.
